Annabel Rivkin
finds her light
with a little glitter

Surely it’s time to get our sparkle back, my Beauties. Sometimes a little glitter is the gateway to get-up-and-go. It’s not just for festivals and it’s not just for teenagers. Handled with care, glitter is feel-good and look-good all rolled up in one virtuous proposition.

One of the many reasons I love it is because it starts the party before you get to the party — acts as an antidote to pre-party terror and dread — and reminds you that going out in the evening doesn’t have to be a serious business. Even for those of us still trembling with post-lockdown ‘Who even am I?’ anxiety. It’s an obvious and effective mood lifter. So my advice would be not to dismiss it out of hand, but remember that it is a resource...

Stila’s Double Dip Suede Shade & Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow is two textures, two moods, two finishes, housed in two small tubes that magnetically attach to each other. My favourite shade is Smitten Kitten, which gives you a warm, caramel brown neutral in one tube and a champagne-y, copper-flecked sparkle in the other.

Use one or use both but the matte shadow is excellent for a little, barely-there impact, while the glitter is just a joy. Lightness of touch seems to be built into this stuff so it’s truly hard to f*** it up. Nonetheless, once it’s on, there is no mistaking it for anything other than a playful (albeit classy) glimmer.

There is something motivating in the knowledge that you’re catching the light. Find your light, people, and... twinkle.
